In the 90’s, it was popular in the US to paint text and phrases on walls.  It was surprising and intriguing to me, the frequency I viewed the technique in historical Chinese interiors,architecture and art.  I took both photographs inside the Forbidden City, Beijing.

What to do with all those books I am experiencing a personal interior design dilemma. Neither my home nor my office has enough space for all the art and design books that I have been collecting for decades. It’s an ongoing debate: Should I keep them? Give them away? There are so many great art…

Came across this in my photo library, it makes me smile.  Interior design with amusing tension.  In real life the space was subtle until it wasn’t… what’s holding what up and how?  

HAPPY NEW YEAR! The Pantone colors of the year are Rose Quartz and Serenity (typically there is only one color). I am puzzled by this choice.  I was convinced it was going to be a shade of green?   Perhaps 2017’s color of the year will be a green.  I feel like green is coming…

          Canopy by Artistic Tile is my new favorite tile! A 3 dimensional, 16″ x 16″  hand carved stone tile.    It reminds me of Japanese woodblock printing. In the last decade tile has gotten more intricate and can be works of art.  Great tiles make any interior design look great.
